You do it all the time. Even if you are not aware of it.
In and out.
Breathing.
Thankfully, your body does it automatically.
Your breath is sensitive, changing with every emotion your body experiences.
You may not even be aware of how often your breath changes during the day.
As you read a shocking email or news, your breath changes. Perhaps you gasp, pause or breathe only through the top part of your lungs.
Are you aware of your life-giving breath during the day?
As you read this, notice how you feel. Take a conscious deep breath allowing your belly to expand as the air fills your lungs. S l o w l y e x h a l e. What do you notice now? Any changes?
By controlling your breath, you can manage your emotions.
The first step is awareness.
Choose something that resonates with you. It could be a shining light, a dot, a cloud, a specific colour, an object or a sound.
In my case, I’ve chosen a dot. Every time I see a dot, it acts as a reminder to notice my breath and taken a deep breath in regardless of what I am doing.
Your breath is your secret weapon. You can change it, without anyone noticing.
You can calm yourself by taking slower, deep breaths even if you are surrounded by people.
How will you choose to breathe in this moment?
