A few years ago a pregnant friend didn’t want to hear about anyone else’s birthing experience. Not until she had experienced it for herself. She and her partner had chosen Hypnobirthing as their experience. Being excited about the miracle of pregnancy, she did not want to be tainted by anyone’s views.
Comparing your experience with another person diminishes your own experience. You are on your own unique path. What is right for you and what you need in your life will show up in that moment.
Sharing your own experience and listening to the experience of others creates vulnerability, which in turn builds connection.
It is the judgement of your own experience during the comparison that detracts from what you needed in that moment.
If you are able to remain open and grateful for the way that you experienced the same event, noting and learning from the other person then it is helpful to compare. But don’t let it diminish your experience.
Judging your own experience is natural. It takes a conscious effort to allow your own experience to resonate with you. Believe and be confident in your own life journey.
Remember that your experience is valid and perfect for what you need in that moment.
