What do invisible ink, insect repellent and cold remedies all have in common?
Here’s a clue: it grows on a tree that has thorns.
It is, of course, lemon.
The tree itself protects its leaves and fruit from predators by growing thorns.
On face value, lemons are bright happy coloured fruit with a sour taste. Despite the sour taste, they have many uses. It just depends on how you choose to use the lemon.
Being a foodie – even the zest is good in recipes, not only the juice. My go-to morning drink is hot water with lemon.
Lemons have so many uses.
Similar to the lemon, you too have a variety of skills. You have different roles in society – a sibling, parent, child, employee, caregiver, lover, partner etc.
Depending on the circumstances, you choose from your multiple qualities to perform tasks or engage with other people.
Why is it that sometimes you find yourself focusing on the one aspect (single thorn) that is ‘wrong’. It is as if there is a loop that you keep going back to.
For example: you choose to focus your attention on a single aspect of your physical body that you dislike, rather than the 99.9% of your body that allows you to experience the fullness of life!
Not all of you is sour, only a tiny aspect. And sour also has its place and uses.
You are a full being with both sweetness and sourness, darkness and light. It’s the combination of both that makes you an authentic human being.
Your shortcomings confirm that you are a super-human. You are real, with your flaws. You are relatable to other people.
You may have thorns and sourness but as a whole you are an incredible human being that has something unique to offer the world. That is why you are here.
Keep being you!
