“When was the last time you did something for the first time” ~ John C. Maxwell
When was the last time you did something for the first time? For me it is today, here in sunny Centurion, South Africa, I am writing and sending the first Hands on Life Coaching newsletter to you! It is such a privilege to have you reading it. Thank you for being here.
What can you expect from new beginnings? Besides the rush of mixed emotions of invigoration, excitement, joy there is also fear. Fear that I am not doing it right or the fear that I may make a mistake. But isn’t that what new beginnings are about? It is about learning and realising that you are not an expert.
I could choose to be paralysed by fear of making mistakes (like most of us perfectionists do) but instead I am choosing to let go of that fear and go for it. Embrace the challenge. Being willing to strive for that high standard of perfectionism but allowing myself the space to make mistakes along the way. In doing so, giving myself the opportunity to correct and improve them.
New beginnings are about accepting that you are not an expert yet but are willing to become one by learning along the way. As you start your own new beginning remember to take Jon Acuff’s wise words to heart: ‘don’t compare your beginning to someone else’s middle’ as we all need to start somewhere.
So when was your first?
I would love to hear from you, not only of your brave new beginnings. Contact me here.
