A few days into the 30-day yoga programme with Adriene she recommended kissing your leg as you draw it close to your face. Having practised yoga for a while, I thought she was being silly but in fact, she was serious.
How often do you show your gratitude and appreciation for your body? Perhaps it’s only when you see that someone less able than you?
Those judging and critical thoughts that you have about your weight or bum or skin or hair (or insert judgement here) are not loving. Sadly, you are not alone in them. No matter how confident people are, we all judge ourselves.
Personal development and working towards self-actualisation is not what I am referring to. But rather it is that little voice inside your head that criticises your body.
Your body is the vessel that enables you to experience life and the world around you. Love your body as it’s the only place you will ever live.
When you show compassion for yourself by accepting or forgiving yourself for those judgments where you have disowned or rejected those parts of you that you do not like. It is then, that you can experience bliss.
Bliss being complete acceptance of what is. It just is the way it is and that is OK. Not wanting anything more or different. It is then that you free yourself to be the best version of who you are.
You are capable of far more than you give yourself credit for.
