Silence.
The buzz of the electrical appliances disappeared. After a few minutes I could hear the noise of generators in the distance.
Due to the high resale value of copper wiring, the area in which I live is often (sometimes 3 times a week) targeted for power cable theft.
Although I enjoy the silence and the absolute beauty of the vastness of the stars without light pollution, the disconnection from the world is a challenge. As this occurs so often the batteries in the mobile network towers no longer work.
Given that you are reading this, it’s obvious that the power did return, albeit 12 hours later. Which is pretty quick compared to power outages in the past.
How often to unexpected silences happen in your life? You had plans to do something and due to unforeseen circumstances, you are not able to continue as planned?
How do you respond?
Do you panic and worry?
Do you take a moment to pause and appreciate the different perspective?
It is normal to become frustrated or annoyed when things do not work out. It is acceptable and healthy to experience all the emotions that come up. You are here to experience life in different ways.
Allowing the circumstances to get the better of you is your choice. I am not suggesting that you do not feel. Do. Take time to process what has happened and feel all the emotions that go along with it but don’t stay there.
Move.
Adapt.
Make changes. Rethink.
You are far more creative that you give yourself credit for. Appreciate the blessings along the way. Take time to notice them. Be kind to yourself for inside of you is a soul that is doing the best it can.
What you resist, persists. Allow yourself the space to let go…
