Time flies and before we know it the day has passed. We look back only to find that we have not achieved all that we wanted to do. Instead we spent time on putting out fires or dealing with lesser issues. This can distract you from your long term goal. Here are three simple tips to help you have a focused day.
- Don’t sleep with your phone next to your bed. Use a traditional old fashioned alarm clock. Using the alarm on your Smart phone may be convenient but it is distracting in the morning as we tend to start our day by reading the emails and messages received while we were sleeping. By not having your phone next to your bed, it enables you to not only stretch before getting out of bed but also to have time for your personal routine without distractions (other than those of family). It allows you time to think about the day ahead.
- Write down your top three priorities. Shortly after getting out of bed make a note of the three most important tasks you would like to achieve throughout the day. Even if it means keeping post-it notes and a pen in the bathroom to jot down your top three priorities for the day. Do this before looking at your phone to ensure that you priorities are what you would like to achieve, not the interruptions of social media or emails.
- Plan your day before the morning rush. Allocate 15 to 30min early in the morning to plan your day. Ensure that you allocate time for the tasks listen on your post-it note too.
