Wonder.
Joy!
Sadness.
Growing up in a culture where happiness and joy were the only emotions were accepted. You learn to suppress any other emotion you may experience. Especially as you were told to suck it up and get on with it. You should be happy as there is so much to be grateful for.
Being authentic and true to my emotions is new to me. In the past, I always explained them away or reframed them.
Allowing your emotions to be exactly what they are in that moment, from moment to moment is healthy. If you are angry, shout, express it. Let it out.
You are able to feel more than one conflicting emotion at any given time. This is depicted so beautifully in the movie Inside Out.
Emotions are energy in motion. Motion is movement, which means that your feelings were meant to flow. Not hold onto them or suppress them.
When you suppress your emotions, you prevent yourself from having a full human experience. Squashing your emotions stops your authenticity.
As soon as you allow yourself to feel what is going on for you. You are able to unlock the energy flow. This enables you to take action like never before.
If you block and suppress your feelings, you stop being your true self. Your energy and vibration decreases. You are weaker, you are slower and you can’t feel. So you don’t know what you want to do.
Whatever you feel, you are supposed to feel. Let your heart guide you to where you are meant to be.
I am not suggesting that you shout at your boss next time you are angry, but allow yourself to experience the emotion fully and let it pass. Find a safe space to express it. Either a person that you trust or create a container.
You are here for a reason, all of you. Not just the parts that you think other people will like or your skills. Allow yourself to be fully YOU, emotions included.
