It’s all new to me, social media, planning and starting a website. I have had so much to learn in a short space of time. My friends have kindly been offering advice and numerous suggestions. All of which was given due to their professional experience in their hope for me to succeed but somehow I lost my way in the process. I was so busy trying to follow their advice that I had stopped listening to myself.
Do you find you’ve stopped listening to yourself? That little voice that says ‘yes!’ – when it just feels right? Have you ever found yourself doing what you think others expect of you? Whether it’s at work, at home by a family member or perhaps a friend. In that, there are two aspects, one is your perception of what others expect and the other is what you want to do. The latter being more important.
It all boils down to your values, the core of who you are, what makes you, You. Is what you are doing in-line with who you are and what you believe is important. If not, perhaps ask yourself why are you doing it?
There is nothing wrong with listening to advice and guidance from others but it’s important to ensure that its in-line with who you are and what you want to do. You are not a robot programmed by someone else. If it doesn’t sit well with you, if it doesn’t feel right then it’s probably not the right thing for you to be doing.
Living according to your values, the core of who you are, is vital for your own happiness in life.
Are you being true to yourself? Or are you doing what you believe others expect of you?
Advice is great but what you choose to do with it is up to you.
