It’s unpredictable.
Just when you think that life is all smooth sailing you get thrown a curve ball.
Your health fails you, your child starts acting out, your puppy chews your laptop power cable just before your year-end presentation, a friend lets you down, more restructuring at work just as you begin adapting to the previous changes. Unexpected events happen, it throws you off course.
A rush of emotions: Anger, frustration, disappointment, disbelief, hurt. You feel disheartened. It’s as if the universe is conspiring against you.
Breathe.
It’s all about perspective. You could view it as a challenge, get your hiking boots, and climb that mountain that was unexpectedly thrust in-front of you. Or you can choose to give up and always wonder if you would reach summit that mountain.
As the proverb goes ‘Every cloud has its silver lining’. Clouds are perceived as being dark and negative. However with the ongoing drought in South Africa, clouds are viewed as a blessing in the hope of rain.
Gratitude is a simple way to add to your life, regardless of the situation. When you stop for long enough, you are able to find something to be thankful for in any situation. It can be something as small as being grateful for your eyes that can see. The more you look, the more you will find. After a while it makes that over bearing situation a little more manageable.
You have two choices: You can allow the situation to get the better of you or you can find some joy in it.
What will you chose?
