By now you must have seen the golden buzzer America’s Got Talent audition by Jane or Nightbirde.
The inspirational 30-year-old that wants to be known as so much more than the bad things that happen to her.
Jane has a magnificent voice. The lyrics to her song, “It’s OK”, are heart-felt as most people can relate to them. When you are so busy trying to be perfect that you end up criticising and judging yourself. The lyrics remind you that it is OK to not have it all figured out.
Life can be hard, and you do face challenges. You are not alone in that. Jane also reminds you that: “You can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore before you decide to be happy.”
Happiness is a choice.
It is only you that can make that choice. Happiness is not dependent on circumstances but rather your frame of mind.
Jane chooses to be happy and see the bright side of life. This is reiterated when she expresses her joy at the 2% chance of survival she was given. Especially as 2% is not zero!
This is just a reminder about the choices you have in life. If you have read “Man’s search for meaning” by Viktor Frankl, you may recall the significant suffering he faced daily but it was his mindset-choices that saved his life.
I am not discrediting your challenges or suffering but more just offering a reminder that you have a choice. It is still important to honour your feelings but perhaps just not get completely lost in them.
If you knew it really was OK, what would you choose?
