Self-growth. Yay! It’s brilliant.
You feel proud of the work that you have done. You have worked hard on becoming who you are today.
Until.
That day comes where you are not feeling positive. You don’t want to be grateful. Or you are feeling sad or disappointed or you are doubting yourself and your intuition.
That is OK!
As much as I’d like to think that I am perfect. I am not. There are going to be days when you are not feeling happy or the positive vibes and the growth that you have worked so hard to achieve. But that is just the thing. It is not an end goal. It is a process.
Growth, transformation and ultimately self-improvement is an on-going process.
Research was conducted by a man who forced himself to be happy for an entire year. Everyday he worked on being grateful and positive. He achieved it – happy for 365 days in a row! After the year was over, he was admitted for severe depression.
It is not normal for you to be happy and positive all the time. If you were never unhappy, how would you know what happiness was?
I don’t know about you, but I believe that as a human being I am fluid, dynamic. I change, my mood changes, my perception changes and I experience different emotions. That is what makes me human.
It is OK to have a wobbly. A day where you feel that you are not so happy, sad, defeated or you have gone backwards in your growth journey.
Growth is like an upward spiral. You come back to review places where you have been before, but with a different perspective. Just because you are looking at things again, doesn’t mean that you have gone backwards. You are still moving forward but as part of that upward movement.
Give yourself a break. Allow yourself to have a day where you are not feeling the growth but know that you are not going to stay there. You are still in process. You are still moving forward but sometimes you need to pause for a bit. Feel those emotions like a wave washing over you. It is just a wave. It will retract again – the emotions will pass.
You will get back on track of your growth path. Infact, having a wobbly is part of the growth process.
So be kind to yourself. Know that you are just pausing to feel and experience. It is OK to be where you are right now. Your journey will continue soon…onward and upward.
