After recording my first every yoga video, I decided to try again.
In my attempt to create a better atmosphere I chose to record it outside on the grass with the waterfall of the pool in the background.
However, the fancy noise cancellation worked a bit too well. Not only did it cut out the sound of the pump for the waterfall, but it cancelled the birds, and most of my voice. There were just occasional moments where you can hear the odd cue of how to get into a pose.
In the past I was terribly anxious and nervous to teach a yoga class. Partly due to me wanting to get it perfect first time. I was so busy judging myself that I wasn’t allowing myself to get it wrong.
This time it was surprising that I was more open to my mistakes. An allowing and acceptance for me to fumble over my words or mis-name body parts. Less harsh judgment from my inner critic.
It was unexpectedly disappointing to not be able to hear the mistakes I made.
The shift from perfectionism off the bat, to acceptance of learning with mistakes was made easier by having done it before.
Having already recorded one video, there was some comfort second time round as it was somewhat familiar.
What was your experience of doing something new for the second time?
Did you find that even though you weren’t an expert, yet – that you were more confident to try it again?
Are you brave enough to try something new for the second time?
I would love to hear about your experiences. Do contact me about this or anything else by clicking here .
