I don’t know about you, but at this time of the year I tend to feel tired and not have much energy. The festive season is upon us. Whether the end is near or you are only half way to achieving your goal, it may feel like it is just easier to give up.
Then pause.
Rest.
Rest may be a four letter word but isn’t a swear word. By REST I mean:
Recognise – Take time out. Acknowledge and experience gratitude for the accomplishments you have already achieved. Even if it is something small like starting your exercise routine or planning healthy eating or reducing that amount you smoke. Look back on how far you have come. Be proud of those achievements no matter how small they are. You will find restored energy in acknowledging what you have achieved when you stop to think about them.
Evaluate – Review and look at what you have learnt along the way. Is there anything that you would change going forward given the lessons you have learnt.
Spotlight – When we are tired we lose focus of where we are going and why we are doing it. We tend to bump along the way and hope that we are blown in the right direction. Refocus on what it is that you want to achieve and why. Remember what you were hoping to gain initially when you first set out.
Target – Concentrate on the next step that is going to help you get closer to your goal.
It’s like climbing a mountain; if you don’t pause to rest every now and then, you miss out on all the beauty along the way. There is beauty along the journey not just at the summit.
Is it time for a rest?
I love this… Pause now and again and Take in the beauty… So profound
